If the breeder really feels that he is THAT great a dog, may I suggest showing him a little first before jumping into breeding?

I myself know pretty well nothing about breeding/showing, but I do know that a proven dog is a lot more valuable in stud than a non-proven one. Let him be in the ring a few times and if he does well enough and the breeder is wanting to use him as a stud, I say go ahead.
