Because crufts is open to other countries docked dogs are still allowed to be shown (we are are working on changing their minds about this as it is illegal to dock routinely here it seems crazy to give medals to docked dogs) Sadly some breeders still dock by convincing vets that they need to do so for health reasons.
I think some breeders are finding not cropping hard because the tails their dogs are producing are very poor - traditionally docked breeds have never been breed for good tail conformation and it's easier to cut them off then work on the breed to produce a decent tail !
Cropped dogs are not allowed to be shown at Kennel club events in fact I can't think of one show at which they would be shown as this has been illegal here for ages and is almost universally thought of as cruel. |
