I just extended Little Bit's crate with an x pen and so far that is working. At night, I close the crate door and during the day time if I will be out for awhile, I allow her run of the xpen and keep food & water out for her.

She never has accidents in her crate or x pen but sometimes if I'm not watching, she will do a #2 elsewhere in the house.
