I read somewhere that you can expect a puppy to hold it one hour for every month of age up to six months. I have been working with Gracie and she can hold it all night (up to 9 hours) as long as no food or fluid within two hours of bed time. During the day, she can go probably four or 5 hours depending on how much she has had to drink. I would suggest crate training. 5 hours is stretching the crate time a bit but as long as it does not go over that it should be fine. Most dogs will do almost anything to avoid eliminating where they sleep.
