I'm in the same boat...I just broke a molar on the top left eating an m-n-m. If there's no damage close to the root you won't need a root canal you'll just need a crown. Crown's aren't bad at all but I'm not crazy about the goop they use to make the impressions... I have my temporary crown in right now but I go back on the 13th for the permanent crown. Find a dentist you're comfortable with and you won't be scared to go...I drive almost 90 miles one way to go see mine and he's worth every mile.
