Teri,
You don't quite understand what show breeders are about. Show breeders myself included will breed a litter hoping to get one or more show dogs out of it. Sometimes there is one, sometimes more than one. I don't sell anything for breeding/show as I don't breed that often anyway.
So, the puppies I have that I don't keep for show/breeding are sold for pet. THese are Canadian Kennel Club registered, have the same outstanding pedigrees as a champion sibling has. BUt it isn't what I want for the show rings so it goes to an approved pet home. It may be bigger than I would like, smaller than I would like, coat may be looking like it will go too light etc.
Breeding YOrkies that don't even wave at the breed standard, much less meet the breed standard is not going to produce that great a quality puppy. I am not saying anything is necessarily wrong healthwise etc
I think you will find prices will vary in different parts of the US for pet puppies from reputable show breeders. Some don't mind selling for a bit lower price to a good home but the buyer will have to convince that show breeder they are a good home.
