I dont know anything about the breeder.
BUt from past experience I would call the AKc with the owners name and ask if they are in good standing, even if you dont see their name on the bad breeders list.
I would also ask for 3 or more phone numbers of past buyers for references and call them. You could also call the seller and ask them if they have any cases of puppies getting sick after leaving home. See how they react. You cant hear a reaction on an email. Of course you cant always tell a whole lot from a phone conversation.
