There is just far too many people breeding and selling dogs these days - it's like this big fad now that people are jumping into for the money and it just sucks for the more popular breeds - and sucks even more for the smaller dogs -
one more thing about mills and pet stores that people don't realize.... is how these poor dogs are transported to GET to the petstores - it's horrible in my opinion - They get piled into trucks and driven all around the country -
It can be fiercely hot in summertime and freezing cold in the winter - they get sick and many die ..... not to mention ....how scared they must feel yanked away from their moms and piled into 18 wheelers like cases of beer -
it's not a great way to start their lives especially when they already have the worst start in life - (being born to a puppy mill or Greedy Breeder that only sees them as cash in their pockets).
also - people don't think about tha poor poor females who are left behind missing their puppies and being bred yet AGAIN so she'll be profitable for these types of Sellers....
It's just a fact that approx 98-99% of pet stores DO buy from Mills ....and I don't mean to sound like an expert on this subject - but saying there are good pet stores out there is like saying there are GOOD IRS agents ...I'm sure there is some 'good' ones - but they're still out to get every penny they can from you. Just like these people are out to get every penny they can from the breeding females and the puppies they produce - no matter what the risk to the mom or puppies health or the unsuspecting buyer that really doesn't know all this in advance. |
Thanks for the response... I didn't take offense to what you have said... I understand where you are coming from, I know the mom's are treated horrible and that these poor darling babies have a tough time in transport to the stores. I look at Chewy's sweet wonderful little face and am just glad his life is better now... I know we can't save them all. And I know there are a lot of horrible circumstances surrounding what he and his Mommy and daddy went through... But I do feel I saved him and I just can't be sorry for that. I am not thinking every one should buy from a pet shop, but I hate to think of what will become of the ones that don't ever get homes!!! You make alot of sense and I enjoy reading your posts. Thanks again for being so caring...
