You just use a powder that is made for ears and squirt it in the ear. Massage ear at the base. The clamp that you use can make a difference. Use a curved mosquito(surgical instrument readily available in doggy catalogs) clamp it over small stands of hair and quickly pull. If the ear has never been done before I would suggest you have a vet or groomer do it. After the first time you can do it yourself with very little discomfort. None, compared to ear infection..I always clean the ear with cotton applicators after to get excess powder out.
