My vet recommends that I file them. Even when he cuts them. After Molly's bath, when she is still in the towel I give her nails a quick filing. If you do it every time you give your dog a bath it will only take about 4 or 5 strkes per nail. This way there are no snags. Molly doesn't love it but she tolerates it.
