Seriously, if he can't reach, you might have to give him some height advantage like being on a pillow, chair cushion, or the like. A breeder here told me how her male was lifted off the ground when he tied with a female who had come for his stud service. Poor thing!
My male is probably going to be small, so I am getting the largest girl from the litter for his mate. I want small, within standard yorkies, but I don't want unhealthy babies either. So, I may have to check back with you in a couple of years to find out what worked for you.
