Rachel,

Roxy doesn't seem to have the mucus. She will make that Goose Honk everyday and it could be in any circumstance. She could be all excited, or she could just be walking around minding her own business, or we could be in bed and out of the blue she does it. I try to kinda sorta yell Roxy to snap her out of it and at the same time I will start to rub her neck/chest area and pick her up. TJ will help out too, when he hears her honking, he will run to her try to bit at her face and/or neck to get her to stop it, it is really cute! As far as the eating, she has NO problem, she loves to eat. Roxy will be 2 years old on 11/24. I very first time I heard her do this she was around 1 year old (give or take). She would make a honk or two at night, either she would be playing or just walking around. Then it started to happen more and more often, then it started to happen only when I came home from work and she was extremely excited to see me, or if I would play just with her and she would roll all around and onto her back for belly rubs (still in excite mode) she would start honking... So I started to try really, really hard NOT to excite her or stress her. Big problem because she has extreme anixety. Anyway, when she went for her consultation at the Orth Specialist for her LP, I told her about the honks. The Dr. press her throat and low and behold, Roxy started to honk. So the Dr. confirmed my fears. And then they did the x-ray because they wanted to make sure everything was ok for the LP surgery, etc...The x-ray didn't show anything, but then again, Roxy was in relax mode, the Dr. said that they didn't take an x-ray with her in the collapsing state (I dunno why). So everyday is just try to keep her calm, but she will still do it when she is calm. I go back for Roxy's 2nd LP surgery 11/20, so I am going to talk further with the Dr. about how and when Roxy honks.
Sorry, that I can not be much more help. I do hope you find some answer for your baby. Yorkietalk is a great place for information. Did you do a 'search' here on the YT board for Collapsing Trachea???
