Does anyone have an S hook for their dog tags? I don't know if these are still used or not. I saw another post about collars and I remembered what happen to a Shih Tzu puppy we had gosh it's been 12 years ago now.
We had just moved into our house and we had Bailey our yorkie, Precious our Shih Tzu that I just had put to sleep this year and Tucker a male puppy Shih Tzu.
Bailey and Tucker were in the back yard playing and I was still unpacking and putting things away. My husband was upstairs in the bed I think talking to one of our kids on the phone. When I realized that neither Bailey or Tucker had come to the door wanting in. So, I opened the back door and called for them and they never came. So I got the flashlight and my shoes and went outside to look for them hoping that we hadn't missed a spot in our fence that they may have gotten out through. Well, I found them at them underneath our bedroom window Bailey was just laying there whinning and Tucker wasn't moving. They both had S hooks on their collars and they had gotten tangled up where Tucker was a puppy he tried and tried to get free and his collar just kept tangling around his neck, I don't know how long they had been out there my husband even tried CPR on him. It was so devistating I was so thankful that Bailey wasn't hurt.
I still got the S hooks for several years later with their tags and never used them, I even told the vet about what happened and suggested that they not furnish them anymore.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this after I saw the other post about the collars. Mine have had since that time the round like key rings on theirs which is what I'm sure that all of you use and, I also use the collars that will pop off if there is any undo stress on them. But, whenever they are in their crate which is never anymore I don't any have it set up I took it apart and it's in the garage. I would always take their collars off ot them.
We have since lost all 3 dogs. Bailey a couple of years later in the road and Precious to kidney failure.
Sorry, I didn't mean to depress anyone. |
