It can be a problem in older, unspayed females. With age comes other health problems that compromise the immune system.
I would doubt genetic's have anything to do with it...bacteria is the cause..no different then a human...why do some people get an infection in a cut or incision and others do not..immune system no doubt plays a role, but to what degree in this case I do not know...thank God, it is totally preventable. |
