I usually don't stud out, but am fixing to do it. Our contract isn't black and white (although it is typed in black and white). The provisions as to the price in a nut shell are something like this:

The fee not only includes the stud service, but my advice and knowledge throughout the mating, pregnancy and being on hand for the delivery, and puppy care. The fee is $800.00 (which is close to the price of pick of the litter); however, there are provisions for adjustments down from that price like: there has to be at least 3 puppies, only two and the price goes down to $500.00; only one and the price goes down to $300.00. If a C-section is performed, the price goes down to $500.00 for 3 puppies and $300.00 for 2 or less. Puppies that die before selling or have any health problems that prevent selling are not counted.

I think it is fair since I've been on both sides.
