I don't blame you for holding the Dr's responsible. They should not have kept refilling the prescription, they could have gradually gone down to less potent drugs.
My husband has had a lot of surgeries due to daibetes and he was getting hooked on percocet, his Dr finally turned him over to a pain mangement Dr, that would only prescribe so many, and if he took too many then he would run out before the time to refill, so he had to make them stretch.
I believe his Dr was being very responsible in doing that. Now he doesn't take them at all. |
That's great that your husband doesn't have to take them anymore.
My mom takes Oxy's but it is the lowest dosage that they have. She has had chronic back pain for years. She has a spinal cord stimulator now but, she still has to take some pills. Every 2 - 3 years she is in the hospital and it's for nothing other then to detox because, they just get built up in her system. We've never brought it up to her but, we know that's why but, she is able to function and doesn't get so looped that she can't do anything. We still worry about her though.
