Getting yorkies to come I'm no expert but I read a year's worth of material before getting my girls since I did not have a pet for over 15 years. The lease and treat idea worked with Chloe at first. Then, she decided she would rather stay outside than come in. When my husband got frustrated trying to get her in, he sternly said "Chloe, you get in here now", which upset me at first. But after it happened to me, I did the same, not yelling, but a firm voice. I also tap on the glass of the back door. It worked, so I give what I call a special treat, a few cherios. No more problem. Also, try giving an "open" hand, palm side up rather than a "reaching" hand, palm down. Sometimes, mine think a palm side down hand means I'm catching for a bath. My other one, Lacey, stays with me like velcro, so she's not a problem. |
