Can I ask you who your breeder was? We got our girl from MN (we live in NE). The lady we got ours from said that she was switching from AKC to APR bc it cost less to register litters through the APR.
You will get tons of people telling you that AKC is the only way to go. However, there are quite a few breeders out there switching to APR. I say if you like the quality of your first puppy that you got from her, there is no reason to think that the second puppy will be any different. If you are getting the puppy for just a pet the registeration doesn't really matter.
