The meetup went well. I got there a little later than I should have and spent the first 20 minutes or so running around like a head with my chicken cut off, and I am not sure I ever really fully recovered from that.
ops: People began to arrive before I had completely set up, and that was a bit disconcerting, but it all worked out! If it wasn't for our very own Debbie (Oscar's Mom), and Reagan's kids (smmrrpm) Hailey and Jake, I don't think I would every have gotten all set up!! I was so lucky to have their help!
Our speaker, Judy Allen, did a fine job talking about canine behavior and did a couple demonstrations using Deb's and Rhonda's Ramsey & Bailey. That was pretty interesting! After that, one of our NC Yorkie member, Sam Britt, spoke about the dangers of common toxins, and related the story of her beautiful pup Monty munching on a wild mushroom and immediately having a life threatening experience. I had copied a whole lot of lists of toxic substances for pups, and handed them out with the MeetUp program.
Then we did a costume contest where everyone won prizes donated by our retailers. Peeps and pups munched on the snacks donated by participants, and had fun watching the pups all run and play together. All the yorkies got along so well!
The comment I received the most was how surprising it was that no two yorkies look or act alike! They are so individually charming!
We did not quite have the attendance I hoped for, but we donated $20 to Yorkie Rescue anyway. Every little bit counts, and they were pleased to have it.
Many thanks to everyone who attended, and again, special thanks to the wonderful retailers who donated! I think everyone had a good time, and I look forward to the April 2007 MeetUp! Make plans NOW to attend!
