My .02: When you're first teaching tricks, ALWAYS use treats. Don't practice them if you don't have any. They should be tiny and something she doesn't have to chew, chew, chew. Some people use cheerios, which is a great idea and cuts down on the calories.

You might think about an obedience class for sit, down, stay, come, heel, etc., but also search this forum for the word "tricks." Here's one post I found that taught my guy how to crawl:

Another easy one (usually!) is spin. Say the word spin, then hold a treat to the side and then behind their head so they have to follow it. When they do it right, praise, praise, praise and treat. Once they get that, you can do "other way."

One of the best trick-teachers on this forum is FirstYorkie, and she swears by the clicker method of instruction. You might search for clicker and read any of her posts.
