I don't think anyone is saying that the dogs that don't meet the standard are not beautiful lovable pups but why would someone deliberately breed or purchase one that is not the standard of the breed you supposedly want?

i think its kind of a country thing, in the uk i would say most people when looking for a yorkie want a healthy pup that is happy playful and loving and are not that bothered about the size of it, if it has floppy ears or not correct colouring so what if it loves you and you love it, a yorkie is not just about what it looks like its also about the personality of the breed. i would bet most people on here do not have a breed standard yorkie, its ears wont be right, its colour not perfect, its coat not good enough, its hind legs to long, there are so many other things than just the weight, but for some reason most people i see on here talking about breed standard dont worry that there dog has these other things wrong its just the size they worry about. and imo the breed standard is wrong and out of date and should be changed.
