Honestly, both of our babies have long coats and we have t-shirts, sweaters, jackets with nylon, you name it and they will matt. I still put clothes on them when I need to (when we go out ect). Just brush before and keep a small amt of coat dressing on her with a silicone base and this make brushing long coats out so much easier and keeps the hair from breaking, and brush out when you remove the clothes. I've explored and tried everything
