Yes, I'd say it is a Rescue of a sort, just as you originally set out to do. You are not contributing to the puppymill/broker. You are just taking over for someone who was not prepared for the full responsibility of pet ownership.
As for the size differences -- I would not worry. I brought Ben (my new Yorkie puppy -- now 12 weeks old and all of 2.1 pounds) home to two sisters -- a dachshund (12.9 pounds) and a Jack Russell (13.8 pounds). Guess who is already in charge -- yes it's Ben! The other two instinctively know to be more gentle with Ben, even when he is not so gentle in return. My old gal (14 yo dachshund) is holding out but he continues to try to win her affection. The JR has all but given up being aloof from Ben -- he will not leave her alone anyway. So, she might as well go ahead and play with him.
The little Morkie sounds very cute -- look forward to seeing her pictures if you decide to make her yours. |
