are you sure it took that long? the incision should have closed up at least within a day. you still have to keep the stitches in tho because the skin needs to build up more tissue to tightly close the skin back up. so it may look like there is still a slit there because that is where the skin is repairing its self. your skin is one of the only organs with cells that will continuously divide and make skin cells until you die. Most doctors use the same types of suture material
