Don't wet matted hair..it will set the mats to the point they have to be cut out. I think you will find bathing 2 or 3 times a week won't be necessary if you get the coat in good shape, meaning ,mat free..I do my Yorks one a week...to 10 days The groomer may need to clip your dog in an easier length to care for..I was a groomer and a cotton coat is hard for the pet owner to deal with..also ask the groomer to fine out the coat.
