Yeah, that's a guideline that they go by. But like I posted before, every dog (just like people) have a different tolerance level.
The BEST thing to do is be aware of this and keep an eye on your kid and when in doubt, call your vet.
There was a Mountain Feist one time (that belonged to an aquantance (sp?))that ate a HALF bag of one of those big bags of Hershey Kisses, wrappers and all! She only weighed about 12lbs and she never once, even to this day had any reactions to the chocolate. Most other dogs? Well, I think you could guess. The only issues she had w/ that ordeal was that she was pooping those dam* silver wrappers for a few days.
Poor girl.
