Thanks for all the great tips. I went and bought a hamster/ferret water bottle (haven't tried it), but will return it and consider the dog one (will have to order one). I think the little guy learned his lesson after that as we have not had that problem again, a paw or two, but not the whole body. I also keep it less full than that first day - live and learn
