 Hostle Maybe?
Maybe she remembers his quite well and feels abandoned by him. My friend has a child that, when she isn't around is so angry and upset... but when she comes home, he ignores her- to punish her for not being there. Maybe it's like that. I think the dog is just hurt. Everything I've read about dogs says they never forget the smell of a person, especially one they lived with.
