I have 4 dogs in my house and the Jack Russell,Kansas, thinks she is the queen boss. I do rank over her, but if I happen to not be in the room, she takes advantage. My problem is with her and my Yorkie Indy. The big dogs don't get in her way. My Ger Shep is terrified of her and so is the Golden. But Indy is another story. He won't back down if she goes after him. Mostly she is OK, unless it involves food or toys. All I have to do is say "cut it out!!" loudly and they all go to their respective beds. If Kansas has a bad day and is grumpy with everyone for no reason, she is banned to the other room. I have gates that keep her out of the family room where we are and she hates being out of the loop. When I let her back in she is always more subdued. The other 3 dogs get along great. The German Shep and the Yorkie are the best of friends. Hunter is always really careful when he plays with Indy, they play tugs all the time and Hunter is always gentle with him and Indy can be a real snot sometimes. I think the time out is a great idea. It really works for Kansas.
