You can never really be certain.... They can go back up to five generations on both sides! So unless the breeder knows that far back, I guess you can't be sure with a yorkie. I did have a breeder tell me that sometimes when you look at a puppy, if you look at its' head, to look at its' roots to see if any silver is coming out yet, or if the hair looks thin on top of the head that it's not really thin, but it's silver and that can indicate that it will be more silver when it is grown. Whether that is true or not, I don't know but it kind of makes since I guess; however, at that age, the silver hasn't always started coming in yet. It hadn't on my Molly, but she is getting siver-headed now.
