The only thing that I find wrong with Pro Plan Small Breed Puppy and Pro Plan Adult dog food is that they contain such ingredients as corn gluten meal, whole grain corn, poultry by-product meal and corn bran. Corn has no nutritional value for dogs and any dog food brand that includes any kind of by-products are usually a "no no". Simply bc the by-products are allowed to contain bits and pieces of animals such as beaks, feet, feathers, bone etc and they have been marked as un-fit for human consumption. Some dogs have no poor reactions to such ingredients but others, that are more sensitive, like our golden retriever Lady, have really bad reactions from them such as hot spots, allergies and upset stomach (vomiting). I'm not trying to push anyone or convince anyone to change their dogs diet if they don't want to. My only reasoning is to state the obvious facts that way other dog owners can atleast be informed. Sadly most people who truly love their dogs aren't even aware of the harmful ingredients in dog foods. Some dogs are picky and will only eat certain foods, I'm lucky bc my new Yorkie eats anything! lol.. So thank God he's not a picky eater. I just changed him over from purina puppy food to royal canin mini puppy food and the transition was as smooth as can be! |
