Default Good news and bad news

Vet just called back with confusing news. He called it good and bad. X-rays showed nothing. He still thinks it's a strain or tear with the cranial cruciate, but it's not bad enough to show up on an x-ray or to limit his range of motion.

The bad news is, he can't really treat it. If it is a small strain or tear, it will get better but then recur until he eventually injures it badly. He said if Eddie was 20 pounds or more, he would consider surgery now. But being only 9.2 pounds, he could be just fine.

Bottom line is he's not recommending surgery now. He expects him to be walking by Friday with anti-inflammatories. If that happens, he'll re-Xray him in 3 months and take it from there.

I'll have to pull him out of his current agility class , but vet said his 'career' is not necessarily over, even if he has surgery. I'm not going to take any chances, though. Agility is the least of our concerns.

Thanks again for your concern. I'll let you know how he's doing.

And an edit in case this ever happens to you: The vet said I did good bringing him in immediately. He said most people ignore it until it becomes a real problem.
