When I groom my boys, I always need an assistant. My husband will hold each while I do the clipping. I've never used a grooming table, but I am considering getting one. It would be easier than bending down! (But I would still need someone to assist).
As far as the legs, I use scissors to trim them, since I leave the leg hair longer than the body. Using the clipper would make the hair too short. And I always use scissors around the face and ears, except the top third of each ear, where I shave them to get the 'yorkie' look. It might help you if you had someone to hold him while you clipped. Mine wouldn't stand still either if they had their way.
