You didn't day how old your yorkie is, but they are never too old to train.
It can take some yorkies up to a year to train. there are many threads on here about house training. do a search for potty training. Just about every new member asks this question.
It takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. You can increase your chances for success if you don't allow them the run of the entire house.
You need to be consistent, but also flexible. If they aren't learning from one method, after a reasonable length of time, try another one.
They want to please you, so if they aren't learning it's because they are just not getting what you want from them.
