Ferdinand did this also, and it just got to be too much. Finally we put his crate in the laundry room, with a towel over the sides (to muffle the whining but allow air flow), turned on the fan in there for white noise, and turned off the lights. He seems to do much better now... but we also finally get some sleep. Good luck!
