I have never crated my pup. She will go in the crate and stay if needed, but never at night. I bought a foldable, wire (metal) pen and opened it part way to give her a corner of my room. She has her bed, a blanket and a pee pad or two. She is pee pad trained, so this helps. She rarely goes potty at night, but if she needs to she has the pads. She sleeps contently there all night...although she does fall asleep on my bed and then I put her in her bed when I turn out the light. I'm not sure if this will help you...
