I actually don't sew the elastic on. The booties are not very, very durable and need to be replaced or washed after a while. Mitzi always manages to get 'holes in her socks'. But since they are so cheap (~$1.00 a set) it doesn't matter. So when one set is worn out I just replace them and don't need to replace the elastics. If you like, I can make a set for Gage and send it to you (for free).
