Try what Patti suggested - it usually works.

With Oscar I would take my left hand and cup it around the back of his head, wrap my fingers around and kindof hook them into the corner of his mouth to hold it open enough to get the syringe in. Then I'd take the syringe in my right hand and put it in the side of his mouth, closer to the back rather than the front - when you squirt the medicine in, he doesn't have much choice but to swallow. Reward him afterwards for being a good boy!

If that is still unsuccessful and if you're finding most of the medicine ends up on his face or on the floor - surely you can mix it with something (unless it has to be given on an empty tummy)? If not, maybe mix it with some banana baby food or some yogurt?
