Oscar did that ONCE when I first got him (bf was watching him at the time) and he did the same thing - he jumped off and missed the area rug completely and hit the wood floors. The sound that came out of that dog gave me chills! He came running right to me and stopped whining when I picked him up. I felt him all over - checked his legs, everywhere for any tenderness or signs that it was painful for him. He was fine. My best guess was that he hit his nose on the floor when he fell and kinda slid. He was totally fine after that AND, he hasn't done it since. He knows he's not allowed to jump off the couch... Ruthie on the other hand thinks she's invincible....
