Good thing you were so alert! I have had to really watch our dogs due to hawks circling our yard. I have all small dogs and evidently they look appealing from the air.
We also have had some close encounters with Cow Killer Ants (which are really in the wasp family but crawl like giant ants). Add that to the fire ants, and all the snakes drawn to our pool and there is no grazing without a human guard in our yard. (yikes -- reading back through that I wonder who is gonna guard the human?)
