I get up pretty early every morning...usually before the sun is up...and lay on the couch with Riley while Jo stays in bed. This morning I saw something large fly up from the ground and into the tree out front but I didn't think anything of it at the time. Well, shortly after that Riley wanted out so we went out on the front deck. I was looking around while he sniffed his way down to the third level of our deck and I noticed something very large looming over us from the oak tree about 6 feet away...this is what I saw... He was having his breakfast in our tree while he watched my Riley run around the deck. I said 'oh, Riley, you can pee pee inside today!' and we went in. I knew we had a big owl in the neighborhood, I've heard him several times but I had never seen him until today. I took his picture (I had to lighten it up so it's a bit grainy but it was still dark outside)and he didn't like the flash so he took his breakfast and flew across the street...man, was he big!
