Cooper does this too. He chews the nail and the licks the parts on the side of his little paws.
I asked the vet about it and he said it could be allergies to the grass or just being bored. He told me to watch him because if the paws stay wet, he could get a yeast infection on his paws.
So I asked if there was anything I could do to stop him and he told me that you can give him a 1/2 teaspoon of benadryl with a baby dropper. It helps alot. Don't get me wrong I don't drug him. After I give it to him we usually play with one of his toys to take his mind off of the chewing. Well I hope this helps with the problem.
