When we first got Cingular we just had the free Samsung flip phone that came with our service and it sucked! We couldn't get good service and sometimes the phone would shut off, like it had battery problems. Not sure though. Last month we finally got Razr phones and it works lots better!!!! I don't know how they do nationwide, but around here it works so much better. I have no problems getting service. I hope this helps!!
