I think they just don't have the advertising budgets of IAMS, Purina and the others because those are owned by HUGE companies like Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, etc. Think about it. A bag of "dog chow" is what, $17 and the same sized bag of Canidae would be like $30. BUT - the dog chow is corn and rendered chicken feet and Canidae is whole chicken and lamb - so the cheap food probably costs pennies to make and it's ALL profit.

The good brands also won't sell at chain stores. Actually as much as I respect their philosophy it's sad because *most* people won't make the extra effort to buy their dog special food and they just pick it up at the grocery store (or Menards - who would buy dog food at Menards?? but people do) Anyway if the grocery stores actually carried a halfway decent brand I think "regular" people would buy it.
