The wood might break and he can get splinters. Maybe an actual stick, like a branch from a tree would be safer, but I guess they can still break. My parents have a bonfire pit at there house and theres a big pot w/ sticks and wood in it. Gizmo loves chewing them! But these really haven' broken off or anything
