Default Biting wood?

A question... My boy's teething. He's trying to bite everything that's wooden and I walk behind him with a clear deodorant and try to make him not to. Fun, have to say . On the last trip to Target I spotted some real wood unstained and untreated little bowls in 1 $ bins. I got one (for the keys) but ended up giving it to the dog, hoping to distract him from biting doors and furniture. Is it ok to chew on it? As I said it has nothing on it just plain wood. They don't swallow splinters do they... Maybe I'm overreacting as usally.
