I did go through this all the time too when we bought our house. The people that live behind us have a doberman and they just open the door and let it run. My boyfriend has a black lab springer spaniel mix and we used to chain him up when he had to go potty since the yard wasn't fenced at that time. One day this doberman came running up into our yard and charged at my boyfriends dog. I got into the middle of it and had a tiki torch in my hand (not that it would do anything since they are made very cheaply but its all that I could find) and I whacked the dog with it just as he was getting ready to grab ahold of our dog. It ran off.

Then a week or so later I was out tending to the flower bed that is at the back of our yard and what do I step in wearing flip flops??? The mother load of dog poo. I knew that it wasn't a pile from our dog because I had picked it all up the previous day and his chain didn't reach that far. I was MAD!!!. So I got the shovel and picked it up and threw it in thier yard. The woman saw me do this and she came walking out looking like she was about to partake in a standoff in an old western. We exchanged words. I then told her that if she didn't keep her dog on a chain I would make sure that she pays for it since I was at that time working at the animal shelter in my area.

These people have no repect for anyone in this neighborhood. I made sure that we fenced in our yard when we got Memphis. I dont want that big ol doberman to get ahold of him. One of my best friends has a pair of dobes and they are the nicest lovable dogs. I babysit them occasionally when he goes out of town but I dont want ANY strange dog in my yard.

Good luck with your neighbors....................
