Hi, I'm fairly new to YT, and I just love it. I thought I'd ask some questions that I have.....
1. We've had Lucy since birth. She is 6mo old. She is almost 100% puppy pad trained. But occasionally she will either go next to the puppy pad, or even just on something laying on the floor!
2. Dixie we got when she was 3mo, she's 7mo now. When Princess (Lucy's Mom) passed away a few months back, we bought Dixie as a friend for us, and for Lucy (who was very lonely after her mama passed away). She is probably 70% puppy pad trained. She goes to the bathroom on the pads (we always praise her) but then sometimes she'll go to the bathroom on the bed! She's used the bathroom on my bed once, my sister's bed twice, and my mom&dad's bed just recently. I don't know what it is....also the other day, she was in my sisters room with me, and my sister had a t-shirt laying on the floor, and despite the fact that about a yard or 2 away there was a puppy pad, she decided to urinate on my sister's shirt!
Lately we've decided to just start fresh (since obviously they're confused with puppy pad training) and start actually housetraining them. We take them out (or try to) every 2hrs, and when we're gone, we keep them in a crate. Are there any other options besides resorting to housebreaking? Also, it's been about 6yrs since I've had a puppy (Princess) and I wanted to know what the best way was to go about housebreaking them? Any advice is appreciated. THANKS!
Okay, about food aggression. Both of my girls have some, but not toward people in any way. Just each other, and other dogs. It's very sparatical (sp) but occasionally we'll actually have to PRY them off of each other. It will start out with a warning growl, and then the one who has the treat often will walk away with it, but the other will follow, and continue to attempt to take the treat (even when we give them separate treats, they'll drop theirs for the other one), then comes snapping. Finally if the other dog persits they get into a huge fight! There's AWFUL growling/yelping and they're biting each other all over. Dixie and Lucy both have scabs on their ears from fighting, and Dixie's come out of it with bloody spots near her neck, and on her head. I always break it up ASAP, but sometimes they'll be under a chair/bed, and I can't get to them. We've started feeding them in separate rooms, which has helped, but what about treats? They take their treats/chewies all over the house. It really only happens like maybe 1-2x a week. It's not an everyday occurance, but I don't want it to progress anymore. They are best friends at any other time...Any advice would be awesome. Thanks again!!
