I would be patient and look for a local breeder. Be picky, and be patient. You will find a good Yorkie, pet quality (since you don't want to show) for alot less than $1,500, I would think.

Going out and getting it behind his back and spending the $1500 wouldn't be good on the relationship. But he might not mind if you spend $1500 if you save the money yourself. Ask him if he'd still be mad. And I agree - you can definitely find a pet quality dog for much less than $1500 closer to your area.
