My Parents rescued a schnauzer when she was 7 months old...They didn't like the name they were calling her so they changed her name to Heidi...She adjusted to her name really well...When you rescue a dog they usually already had a name...and(not knowing what their name was) you are going to name them what you want....they learn their name...I feel if you want to change his name it shouldn't be a problem. JMO
